Usujiri B Site 臼尻B遺跡 - Usujiri B Excavation (1976-1980)
I joined the team at Usujiri B in 1976 and continued collected samples there for four seasons. Usujiri B is a complex occupation being almost entirely Middle Jomon but with several different pottery assemblages. A few representatives of Late Jomon pottery come from shallow fill layers. An Ainu burial with swords and other items was an unexpected discovery here too. These photos document the excavation as well as examples of pit houses and artifacts.
